A full school week - done and dusted!

Dear Parents, Staff and Pupils,

Well we have finished our first full week of school! Well done to one and all!

Some quick reminders:

If you have any concerns about your child's medical well being, as per guidelines and HSE advice we urge you to always ring your GP first. Always ask them what you should do if your sick child has other siblings in the school. The usual advice is, that if you are awaiting a Covid 19 test, all of your household must restrict movement until the test results have come back. You will then be guided further.

If your child or anyone in your household goes for a Covid 19 test at weekends we ask you to please email your teacher with this knowledge. The health status of any child, teacher, parent, household is treated in the strictest confidentiality.

We ask that parents fill out Administration of Medication forms for pupils who have any medical care needs i.e. asthma. This form is available on our school website under Plans and Policies > Organisational Policies.

We have had some parents ask if people are supposed to wear masks in the car park. School guidelines don't reference the wearing of masks in the carpark. However, our School Reopening Plan states very clearly that parents are asked to drop and go - Don't Delay, Drive Away. By now, all of the pupils are settling in well and well able to walk up the school path.

Our staff are busy getting to know pupils and over the coming weeks we will carry out some assessments to see what levels our pupils are at. This takes time and we will be talking to parents when these assessments are done.

Our school did many Class Blogs over the school closure period. From now on, your teacher will put up one Class Blog per month to showcase some of the pupils' work.

Book bills are still to be paid and we ask you to check your text messages for the link to Aladdin to make the payment. We ask that all book bills are settled by Friday Oct. 3rd. If you haven't received the book bill link please contact Helena in the school office.

Last year we made the decision to hold parent information meetings every September so that all parent groups could meet the teacher and find out about the work and homework for the year ahead. This is not possible due to guidelines so each class teacher will write a letter to all parents in the coming two weeks. This will outline homework and other plans for the year ahead.

We thank all of our school community for helping to make our reopening a success, thus far. Pupils have settled in so well and as we expected all of them have shown great courage and strength. We had Tina Ralph in for Yoga this week and her Bright Blessings helped us all feel a little more relaxed. We got out for lots of Ventilation/Movement breaks when the weather allowed us to and next week we hope that our Buddies in 6th class can chat to their Junior Infant buddies from a distance - on the basketball court.

Well done one and all, let's take each week as it comes and keep each other safe!

Safe hands, safe space, safe pupils, safe place!

Míle buíochas,

Audrey
