Dear Parents/Guardians,

I met with the new Chairperson and Treasurer of the P&FG this morning. We had a good discussion on how best to support the school and plan for events and activities.

Some information from the meeting

Parents Council Meetings 2022/2023

The following are the dates of Parents and Friends’ Group Meetings to be held in the school which will run from 7p.m. to 8.15pm.

  • Monday 14th November 2022 - already held!
  • Thursday 12th January 2023
  • Thursday 9th February 2023
  • Thursday 9th March 2023
  • Thursday 27th April 2023
  • Thursday 25th May 2023
  • Thursday 22nd June 2023 – plan AGM date for October 2023.

The members of the Committee also will try to get the names of the admin for each classroom/group WhatsApp. This will help to get messages out.

Ballymitty NS Parents and Friends’ Group Statement

  • Ballymitty Parents and Friends’ Group (P&FG) is a partnership and a voice between parents and pupils to interact with the school.
  • Its members work with the Principal, staff, Students Council and Board of Management to build effective home/school partnerships.
  • It provides a voice for parents on issues that are important to them and their children and communicates with the school about such issues.
  • It supports the school in its development and improvement.
  • It provides parent input into the development and review of School Policies and Procedures, including the Code of Behaviour, School Self Evaluation etc.
  • It assists the school when requested, with programmes such as curricular initiatives, coffee mornings, speakers, fun days etc.
  • It arranges speakers to speak with parents on relevant topics, such as parenting issues, online issues, moving to secondary school etc.
  • It provides opportunities for social interaction and communication between parents at open days, evening meetings, coffee mornings and other events.
  • It engages with the school and the Department of Education and Skills in Whole School Evaluations (WSE) or as required.
  • It links with the Principal at the monthly P&FG meetings for updates on school activities, news and events.
  • P&FG Chairperson meets with the Principal/Chairperson of the Board of Management once per term to discuss relevant issues and reports back to the Parents Council.

We look forward to continued support from the P&FG.
