Some changes for Monday!

Dear Parents, Pupils and Staff,

Well done on our first few days of school! Our new Junior Infants settled in well and got to do lots of fun activities. Junior Infants finish at 12.30pm for next week and the week after. Remember, Ms. Franey will walk pupils down at 12.30pm but if it rains we ask you to collect the pupils at the new sign on the basketball court.

Well done to all the rest of our pupils who came back with smiles on the faces and all ready for work! I bet they will be tired this evening as the reality of school being opened hits! All pupils got used to the hand washing/sanitising and all other changes. While it took 25 mins to wash hands on Weds for the infants it was down to only a few minutes today!

Well done to all our parents for all your support in the school grounds and carpark. We have some feedback around the times for collection so from Monday August 31st the following changes are in place:

2.50pm: Pupils for school bus and cyclists will go down the path

2.55pm: Pupils from Ms. O'Brien's 1st class and Ms. Áine Foley's 2nd and 3rd class will go down the path AND as any of those pupils' siblings from 4th/5th or 5th/6th.

3.05pm: Pupils remaining from Ms. Shelly O'Grady's 4th/5th and Ms. Trish Foley's 5th/6th will leave school.

Well done also to all of our staff who are getting used to school under the new norm and safeguarding themselves and pupils by implementing all the new changes. It is not easy to teach wearing a mask or a visor but we must protect each other.

Over the next few weeks we will be assessing our pupils to see where they are at and what plans we need to put in place to support their learning. This takes time as you can imagine with a large group of pupils and we may ask you for feedback and support around this. Our Special Education teachers will be making plans and timetables so that they can give support where needed.

To support the well being of our pupils we will be up and running with Chair Yoga every Thursday with Tina for the next 4 weeks.

We will be adding little articles to each class blog over time so keep an eye on the website.

We ask parents also to remember to pay for books on Aladdin. You will have received a text message on July 2nd and last week reminding you to pay.

Finally, two days done, many more to do! We have enjoyed welcoming your kids back to school and we look forward to seeing them all again on Monday.

Enjoy the weekend, everybody and stay safe,

Audrey
