Weekly Update from Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Some updates from Ballymitty NS

GAA

Well done to our Rackard League teams who took to the football pitches this week. There will be matches next week too but the fixtures are not in yet.

GPO - New Games Promotion Officer

We had Adam Howlin here yesterday as the new GPO. All classes are taking part in football and it is great to see all the pupils involved. From next week can 2nd - 6th classes can bring in football boots and gum shields - if they have them.

School Events

For a few years before Covid we had done an Events Calendar to keep parents informed about upcoming activities and school events. These events are listed on the school calendar on our website: http://ballymittyns.ie/Calendar - this is updated regularly.

6th Class Mayor

Ms. Rachel Kehoe, the 5th/6th class teacher, has decided to elect a Mayor who will represent our school, welcome guests and do speeches as well as lots of different activities. This was an idea that we picked up on our Erasmus travels to Italy and it seemed to work really well. Today the Mayor was elected by the pupils in 5th/6th class. Congratulations to JACK MURPHY - the new MAYOR of BALLYMITTY NS!

Sing out Loud - 3rd and 4th class

This is a concert held every year in the National Opera House. Over 3000 primary school children from all around Co. Wexford take part. There are usually 3 or 4 schools on the stage each night. Our 3rd and 4th class pupils will participate in this concert. Our school has not yet been given a date but it will be sometime between Nov. 14th and 28th. To take part, each school learns a number of songs with their class teacher. Parents/Guardians are invited to buy tickets for the occasion and usually there are lots of performers singing and dancing as well as our pupils. It is always a great night of entertainment. The pupils of 3rd/4th class will get their song packs. They can start practising their songs at home using this link: https://bit.ly/singoutloudlyrics2022(Note there may be a few problems with one or two of the songs!)

Friendship Week

Next week we have lots of activities planned for Friendship Week. We will try to promote our class motto of Kind Hands, Kind Feet, Kind Words and Kind Hearts. To finish the week we will have our Opening Year Mass for all our pupils and we invite parents/guardians and anyone in our school community.

New half zips

Please label new half zips, some have already gone astray this week!

Our new An Choill Building

We have had a fantastic week in our new building An Choill. Our staff and pupils have settled in very well. We have lots of people asking when they can see our new building but we are just allowing everyone up here to settle in first. Sometimes for pupils with additional needs a whole new classroom setting and environment can be such a challenge. Our priority is to make sure that the pupils are given every opportunity to settle in first. And when the time allows for it, we will have an open afternoon where parents/guardians and others can come in to see the building.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
