Second Class have had an extremely busy school year to-date! No sooner had we waved goodbye to the summer holidays then we had to pack our swimming togs again to begin a very busy, but enjoyable, course of swimming lessons in Ferrybank Swimming Pool.
These lessons link in with the Aquatics strand of the Primary Physical Education Curriculum and we were all very proud at the end of the seven weeks to have passed our exams and to receive our certificates! Watch out Michael Phelps.... Second Class have their sights set on Olympic Gold for Tokyo 2020!
Of course this school year is an extra special year for the pupils of Second Class. Preparations are well underway for this month’s Sacrament of Reconciliation Ceremony and also for our First Holy Communion day on Saturday 13th May.
We attend special ‘Do This in Memory’ masses together once a month and our classroom is a regular hive of activity - learning prayers, singing hymns and lots of Communion related art activities too.
We really cannot wait for our special day on May 13th!
All of this on top of weekly spellings and tables tests, reading a new class novel every term, lots of fun poems and drama, skills training with visiting GAA coaches (to name just a few things)..... by the time Wednesday afternoon comes around we really do enjoy and appreciate our one hour of relaxing Yoga!
If we continue with our great work perhaps Ms. Casey will reward us with a night or two off homework. We live in hope!
