Ms. Denise Fitzharris
Hi there,So here's a little bit of info about me! I live in Barntown, Co. Wexford and have lived here for most of my life. I am the youngest of 6 children...well technically my twin and I are both the youngest but she was born first!! In my free time I like to stay active, I try to walk every morning as I think it's the best way to start the day! I enjoy playing all sports but I've a particular grá for GAA. I've played camogie since I was 12 years old when I was on the first underage team in the newly formed Glynn-Barntown Camogie club. We've enjoyed many victories over the years, topped off with our Senior B title last year. Growing up in Barntown, Rounders was also a big part of our lives, every Saturday afternoon was rounders time and we eventually made our way to the Community Games finals in Mosney where we were crowned All-Ireland champs! When I'm not playing sports I enjoy watching TV and love nothing more than getting into a new series...I've become slightly addicted to the whole Netflix phenomenon and find it so hard to know when to stop watching...especially on a school night!! So how did I find myself in Ballymitty? Well, after my Leaving Cert the plan was to become a secondary school teacher in my two favourite subjects- Accounting and German, so I completed a degree in Business and German specialising in Human Resource Management. After studying HR I took a notion that maybe I'd like to work in this area but soon realised it wasn't for me and began my journey to becoming a teacher again. I thought long and hard and came to the conclusion that Primary Teaching was what I wanted to do. I took the plunge in October 2008 and began my Post-Graduate studies in Education. Graduating in Summer 2010 I was fortunate to secure my first post that September working as a shared Resource Teacher for Travellers for 2 months. From here I got my first class ( 35 second class pupils!!) in Piercestown NS. The following year I taught Senior Infants in Screen N.S. before finally finding my way to a great little school on the top of a hill in Ballymitty! This is now my fifth year in Ballymitty. I've taught lots of different class levels mostly in the Junior end of the school but this year I decided to take on a new role in SEN. The change has been great so far and it has been such an eye-opener for me. I love that I can work with every class in the school and being part of our many team-teaching initiatives has been a perfect opportunity to learn from my colleagues. I hope to spend some more time in the area of SEN and eventually bring that knowledge and experience back into the classroom!! So that’s really all there is to know about me! Slán go fóill Miss Fitzharris

This is my third year teaching in Ballymitty. I graduated from St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra in 2011 and worked in a number of schools throughout Wexford before covering a maternity leave here in 5th and 6th Class. This year I am lucky to have been made permanent and I am delighted to be part of such an amazing community. This is my first year in Resource which I love so far. I am really enjoying the opportunity to work closely with lots of different classes and staff.
I have a big passion for athletics and spent my school years involved in community games, track and field and cross country competitions. As well as running I took part in field events such as the shot put, javelin and hammer. I also love art, having chosen it as my third-year elective subject in college. Outside of school I enjoy reading, keeping fit and getting stuck into a new tv series.

I am a newly qualified teacher and started my post as a Resource Teacher in St. Joseph’s N.S. in November 2016. My resource post is split between three different schools, on Mondays I visit St. Joseph’s N.S. in Kilmuckridge, and on Tuesdays and Wednesdays I spend my time in my base school here in Ballymitty. On Thursdays and Friday’s I work with the students in St. Fintan’s NS, Taghmon.
This resource post is my first job since becoming a teacher. For the months of September and October I subbed in different schools throughout County Wexford and Wicklow. However, as a Hibernia College student, I got a lot of experience from different schools in Wexford, and spent 10 weeks here in Ballymitty doing my final School Placement last year.
As well as doing a Professional Masters in Primary Education, I also have an Honours Degree in a Bachelor of Music from DIT. Music plays a huge part in my life as I grew up in a musical family. As part of my time in DIT, I studied all types of music: Classical, Jazz, Early Music, World Music, and of course Irish Traditional Music which I majored in for my final two years. As part of the Conservatory of Music and Drama, I represented the college on many occasions, playing for the President of Ireland and performing in both the National Concert Hall and Dublin’s 3 Arena several times. As well as this, I was also chosen to travel internationally to Spain, Luxembourg, Germany and France to perform at festivals and represent my college and country.
