A number of years ago I decided to change directions in my career. I looked at my different options and what I was good at. Firstly, I enjoyed looking after and spending time with children and in particular children/adults who have challenging lives. I enrolled in Selskar College where I studied a SNA/Community Care Course. At times it was quite challenging as I had to manage home life, college and studying as a mature student. Thankfully I got through the course with the help from my family. I realised I had a passion for my work and had found my niche in life. I could really help and encourage children on the road to becoming independent young people. I have previously worked in Kilrane N.S. Scoil Carman in Wexford and Scoil Realt Ma Mara, Kilmore. I have been an SNA in St. Joseph’s in Ballymitty since 2012. As an SNA I upskill doing different courses and gets lots of encouragement from Ms. McCarthy and the staff here.

Six years ago I did volunteer work at Our Lady of Fatima School for 6 months. Having really enjoyed this experience I studied Community Care /SNA at Selskar College Wexford. Following this I have worked at Ballymurn N.S. and Carnew N.S. This is my 2nd year at St. Joseph’s which I am really enjoying. My interests include Arts and Crafts, Dance and Music. Previously I have worked with the street theatre company Bui-Blog. I am involved with my local comhaltas group Ceoltoiri Munna and Wexford Sean-Nos Dance Group. I really enjoy painting and participate in Art in the Open-Plein Air Festival in Wexford every year.
