Dear School Community,
We are officially announcing that we have been one of 28 lucky schools that will have retrofit works done over the summer months.
Helen McEntee, Minister for Education, announced the official works this morning. You can see the information and list of schools on her press release:

We will be proceeding to construction to give a deep retrofit to achieve a Building Energy Rating (BER) of at least B by installing heat pumps, LED lighting and mechanical heat recovery ventilation. The fabric and airtightness of the schools will also be upgraded. These upgrades will greatly enhance comfort and functionality in our school while contributing to a lower carbon footprint and reduced energy costs.
These works will be done throughout the older parts of the school and will include:
External Wall Insulation
Attic Insulation
Flat Roof Insulation & Refurbishment
New Double Glazed Windows
New Doors
New Blinds & Window Liners
Air Tightness Measures
New Hybrid Space Heating System consisting of LPG Boiler and ASHP
New Radiators
Replace Existing Domestic Hot Water Heating System with Standalone Air
Source Heat Pump and New Cylinder
New MVHR
New BMS System
New Energy Meters and M&T System
LED Lighting
New Lighting Controls
New Standalone Emergency Lighting
We are delighted with the retrofit works planned despite the fact that school is inaccessible for all of July and August.
We will also be getting 16 new solar panels to the school also.
