Religious

We are a Catholic school and we teach the Grow in Love Religion Programme to all classes. See website for more ideas: www.growinlove.ie

Each year the 2nd class pupils take part in two Sacraments – The Sacrament of Penance (First Confession) and the Sacrament of the Eucharist (First Holy Communion). The pupils are prepared in school and also partake in some Sunday masses under the Do This in Memory Programme where it is envisaged that the school, the community and the parents come together to support the child in their preparation for the Sacraments.

Every two years our 5th/6th class pupils make their next Sacrament – Confirmation. Traditionally this has been held in Carrig-on-Bannow Church with the 5th/6th class pupils from Danescastle NS.

As part of our Religious ethos we welcome pupils from all religious or non-religious backgrounds. We teach the universal values of love, kindness and respect and we believe that these values underpin all of our teaching and learning in the curriculum.

The First Holy Communion is due to be held on Saturday May 17th 2025.

There Confirmation will be held on April 4th 2025.
