In St. Joseph’s N.S, Ballymitty our Parents' Council is known as the Parents & Friends Group. This name was given to the group a few years ago.
We are a small group of people who work with the Principal, Staff and Board of Management to build effective co-operation and partnership between home and school.
Here in St. Joseph’s N.S, we organise a variety of fundraising events. All monies raised goes directly to the school for a specific project. We part fund class trips & buses, drama presentations & sporting activities. This helps make these fun activities more affordable for parents.
We are always on hand to provide tea/coffee & treats for any special occasions in school such as Holy Communion, Grandparents Day or Art exhibitions - to name just a few.
We can advise the Principal & Board of Management on policy issues & incidents that may require a review of school policy e.g. Bullying, Safety, Homework, Enrolment, Behaviour problems etc.
We are a support for new parents who join our school and who want to learn about school policies, procedures and practices.
We sometimes invite speakers to address parents on issues which are topical or relevant such as Internet Safety, Bullying, Drug Awareness and Transition to Second-Level School.
The Parents and Friends Group is not a forum for complaints against either an individual teacher or parent. The School Complaints Procedure is the mechanism for this.
We are always looking for new members to support us & bring new ideas.
Everyone is very welcome. Fáilte isteach & cabhraigh linn!!
