GAA - Rackard League matches

Next week our Rackard League interschool hurling competition starts for 5th and 6th class pupils. Lifts to matches must be arranged between parents. Parents bringing pupils to matches must come to the front door to sign the pupils out.

Girls will play Barntown at 1.30pm in Barntown school pitch - Tues. March 7th

Boys will play Ramsgrange at 3pm in Grantstown - Thurs. March 9th.

We will give more fixtures next week for the next games.

GAA: In school

Every Thursday, all pupils must bring in hurls and helmets for hurling coaching.

On Thursday mornings from 8.30am - 9.10am there is hurling coaching for 2nd - 6th classes only.

GAA - In our local Bannow/Ballymitty GAA club

A big fundraiser and a great few nights out are coming up for Bannow/Ballymitty Ladies Football & Camogie Clubs.

Online survey

I would ask all parents to take a few minutes to fill out surveys letting us know any ideas you have for how we propose to spend monies raised through fundraising. We would like to have ideas from all our school stakeholders. You can find the survey here: http://ballymittyns.ie/Forms/Parents-Survey--how-best-to-spend-funds-raised/334022/Index.html

Visitors to our school

On Monday next, James Browne FF, will visit our school. HJames Browne was appointed Minister of State at the Department of Justice and Equality with responsibility for Law Reform in September 2020. He has served as the Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Mental Health, leading initiatives to reform mental health services in Ireland, including the Mental Health (Amendment) Act 2018 and served on the Oireachtas Committee on the Future of Mental Healthcare. It is always good to have our local politicians visiting schools and it gives us a chance here to highlight important issues. I will be talking to him about mental health in our schools and some of our pupils in 5th/6th class have some other questions to put to him. We will let you know how we get on!

Erasmus - We have 10 pupils and 3 teachers from schools in Italy visiting on March 13th and 14th. We look forward to showing them our school.

St. Patrick's Day Parade

Each year, we have a number of parents who can help out with the parade in Carrig-on-Bannow. The parade starts from the main field behind the school at 2pm but it is best to meet from 1.30pm onwards. Usually, our pupils from Junior Infants - 2nd walk in the parade behind the banner.

Each pupil must have an adult walking with them.

This year, there won't be any school staff member present so we need a few parents to be on hand to carry the banner and to help keep the children behind the banner as they walk.

The theme we are going with is Farm Animals. The children can simply dress up as farm animals using old clothes, hats, masks etc from home.

If you are ok to help out on the day please email us at ballymittyns@gmail.com to let us know.

Parents and Friends Group

The next meeting will be held in the school next Thurs. March 9th at 8pm.

We wish everyone a lovely weekend!

Audrey
