Dear Parents/Guardians of 3rd and 4th classes,
Each year in our school, 3rd and 4th classes have swimming lessons. Swimming lessons/aquatics are part of our PE curriculum and learning to swim is a vital skill.
This is a whole class activity and we encourage all pupils to participate. There is no option to remain in school as the teachers involved are supervising during swimming lessons.
Also, we know that for some parents getting into swimming lessons outside of school can be difficult and at least in school they are guaranteed two sessions of swimming lessons in both 3rd and 4th classes.
This year we have 6 weeks booked from Sept. 12th to 17th Oct. Here are the details:
Classes involved: 3rd and 4th Classes
Venue: Ferrybank Swimming Pool, Wexford
Dates: Thursdays – Sept 12th, 19th, 26th, Oct. 3rd, 10th, 17th
Time: Swim lessons from 12 – 12.45pm. Bus will leave school at 11.30am sharp, arrive back to school for 1.30pl latest.
Permission Slip: This must be filled out online and is available here: http://ballymittyns.ie/Forms/Permission-Slip-for-Swimming-and-Parent-Support/3047792/Index.html
Cost for swimming: €10 per child per week = €60 in total. Swimming must be paid for in advance each week or you can pay the whole amount up front.
Cost of the bus: This will be paid by the Parents and Friends Group and we thank them for this contribution.
What pupils will need to bring in a separate bag from their school bags:
- swim suits (no two pieces/bikinis!)
- swimming togs (which can already be on under their clothes on Thurs. mornings),
- towel,
- swimming hat and
- goggles
The pupils won't be washing hair so please ensure long hair is tied up or in a plait.
How to pay: A link will be sent by Aladdin to your email and phone. If you don't receive this, it means we have the wrong details so please let us know.
Supervision for swimming: There will be two staff members each week and we are looking for 2 parents each week to give a dig out. If you are free, let us know when you fill out the permission slip. Hopefully we will have enough so that parents only need to help out for one session.
Kind regards,
Audrey
