Cllr. Jim Codd came to visit us today! We had asked the People Paper to come in for a photoshoot of our newly elected committees and of our new Mayor Aaron Cleary as well as taking a photo of our Erasmus group who are off to Sweden! Jim Codd came along with the District Manager Noreen Cummins.
He chatted to the 4 committees and threw out a few pens and hats and goodies! Jim also brought along a Friendship Agreement between our school and the Rosslare Municipal District! He got Aaron as our new mayor to sign this document! We had an idea that we think would work - that other student councils in different schools could come together in the Rosslare District and meet a few times per year to discuss common issues.
The kids spent some time then asking Jim some questions! He was asked to fix potholes on a road near Grantstown, he was asked why he put a stand at the ploughing championship but wasn't actually there and then he was asked what his biggest mistake he ever made in politics so the kids could know not to repeat it!! He was also asked when would the general election be so that the kids could have a day off school!! He gave some great answers and he loved the chats!
Here are some photos of the day!

A future Cllr. Cassidy perhaps!

The signing of the Friendship Agreement with Cllr. Codd and Mayor Cleary!

Thanks to Jim for paying us the visit! And tomorrow Deputy Verona Murphy is coming in to meet the Erasmus group and the pupil committees also!
It is great to see our young people standing up, introducing themselves and asking questions of the people who represent us!
