Dear Parents/Guardians,

Christmas Bits n Bobs!

It's official! Christmas starts up here next Monday so the children can wear their Christmas jumpers!

There is no written homework in December.

A huge thank you to all the families who have purchased Christmas Calendars and Toy Show Bags. Toy Show Bags will be given out next Thursday/Friday and we have spoken to the children to ask them to not eat them on the way down the path!

Christmas School Mass

On Weds. Dec. 10th at 10am we will have a whole school mass in the church. This is to celebrate Christmas but it is also a mass of thanksgiving for school Boards of Management. The diocese of Ferns has asked all schools to acknowledge the work of Boards of Management - most of whom are volunteers. We ask any past and present Board of Management members who are free to come that day to be present at our mass. All parents/grandparents and community members are welcome to attend. Fr. Boggan is a very priest and at the last minute could be called elsewhere so in that case the mass will be held on Weds. Dec. 17th.

Head Lice

We have had a few cases of head lice in the junior end of the school so I would ask all parents to check heads please!
Follow the HSE advice on what to do if your child has head lice - https://www2.hse.ie/conditions/head-lice-nits/

Prime Time programmes

Last night RTE's Prime Time focused on the dangers of the popular gaming platform called Roblox. It is quite alarming to read the risks associated with this game. It can be viewed on the RTE player.

Last Thurs. evening Nov. 20th, there was another interesing Prime Time special focusing on dyslexia and Reading Classes. Reading classes were set up years ago when there weren't many resources in schools. A child could move to a Reading Class for two years and then come back to their own school. The only reading class in our county is in a school in Enniscorthy. This programme focused on the lack of those classes and the lack of vision by the Dept. of Education to open them. We have many children with severe dyslexia who need the chance to succeed in a class like that which is highly specialised. We would love to open a class like that in our school and we are busy emailing the Dept to see why they aren't being opened. If you have the chance to look at this on the RTE player it is very interesting.

Have a lovely weekend everyone,

Audrey
