Weekly Update from Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Some updates and information

Junior Infants

Junior Infants will stay in until 2pm from Monday onwards.

Infant Club

This is up and running for the Junior and Senior infant children who wish to stay in school from 2 - 3pm. Please contact Sam or Lizie to book a place. A reminder that if you are doing the club you must pay on the first day each week that your child attends.

School Photographs - will be taken this Weds. 10th September in school - please ensure children have their full uniforms on

Every two years, the photographer Will Cusack takes family photos. He takes all family photos and sends the proof to you and you can choose which option you would like to buy. Here is a sample of the proof and the pricing:

Homework

There will be some homework starting next week. Already, the children have had RSE home link sheets sent home. It is really important that this is done. Also, next week we will begin Weaving Wellbeing and there will be homework in this also. It is important that all children from 1st class upwards are reading every day at home/before bed. More written homework will begin the week of Sept. 22nd. If there are any difficulties with homework, do let us know here.

Rackard League fixtures

Please see my article on the website re matches for next week- girls on Tues in Fethard @ 2.30pm and boys in Fethard on Weds. @ 2.30pm.

GAA at 8.30am

Each year, we do training before school at 8.30am for those who are interested in football. This begins next Friday at 8.30am. This year, any of the children who play GAA football or who would like to play from Junior Infants to 6th class are welcome to come in at 8.30am. We have Donal and David, two parents who help out from the club as well as Liam, the GPO from Bannow/Ballymitty club. There will also be a staff member present.

If it rains, we can hold it in the GP room but as there are new fixtures and fittings from the building works, we cannot allow any ball work in that area. So it would be circuit training only.

2nd Class Holy Communion

I would ask all 2nd class parents to check their emails in relation to the First Holy Communion. We need to know the numbers making it as soon as possible.

P&FG AGM

The AGM for our Parents and Friends' Group is on Tues. 30th Sept at 7.30pm in school. For new parents to the school, the P&FG is our version of a Parents' Council and all parents are welcome to attend the AGM. We have a very active group of parents who help out at school events, do some fundraising, review policies, hold coffee mornings etc. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Secretary's strike

This is on-going and as yet there is no resolution. We are hopeful talks will begin again. We support them in their efforts to gain pension and leave rights. We are trying to operate without Helena but it is very difficult to manage and we hope that talks will begin and that a solution will be found soon.

Enjoy the weekend everyone,

Audrey
