Weekly Update from Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Some reminders and dates:

GAA 8.30am morning Football sessions

We had a great turn out this morning with 29 eager pupils! Well done to one and all. This continues each week aside from the rainy Fridays! We will have Donal, David, Liam and a staff member but we are delighted to have some parents help out too as it means we can keep our groups small and really focus on various skills.

GAA Rackard League fixtures:

Both Boys and Girls play v Ramsgrange in Grantstown at 2.30pm next Weds 17th Sept. Children can be collected at 2.10pm.

GAA Rising Stars fixtures

Boys will play Cushinstown in Cushinstown on next Thursday Sept. 18th at 2.30pm. Boys can leave at 1.50pm. This is only for the boys who don't start the game next Weds.

Swimming starts next Thursday Sept. 18th

  • We encourage children as much as possible to be fully independent in changing themselves before and after swimming. It is recommended that children wear their swimsuits under their clothes to school on Thursday mornings to save time changing
  • Children must have their own swim cap & goggles.
  • Swimming gear should be packed in a suitable bag. Please pack an extra plastic bag to put wet swim gear into. For girls, it is especially handy to have an extra small towel for their hair.
  • Long hair must be tied back or in a plait.
  • Jewellery must not be worn.
  • Please note children will have a quick rinse off in the shower after swimming s0 no shower gel/shampoo needed.
  • Children will need a small drink/snack to eat on the bus on the way back to school. This must be something they can eat from their hand. They will eat their full lunch on return to school.
  • Please inform us if your child has to bring any inhaler with them.
  • A reminder to pay for swimming on the Aladdin link that was emailed last week.

Head Lice

A reminder for parents to please check hair for head lice. We have had some outbreaks. For support on what to do when your child has headlice please refer to these HSE guidelines - https://www2.hse.ie/conditions/head-lice-nits/

Parents and Friends' Group

The AGM will be held on Tues. Sept. 30th at 7.30pm. We always look for committee members that night such as Chairpersons, Treasurers, Secretaries, PR etc. We also have had some parents asking about homework/afterschool clubs so perhaps if anyone has ideas/information you could pop along to this meeting.

Board of Management Meeting

The next meeting is on Monday 22nd Sept. at the earlier time of 7pm.

Upcoming school events

  • Friendship and Kindness Week is next week Sept. 15th - 19th
  • 5th and 6th Class will play in a Tag Rugby blitz on Friday Sept. 26th
