Dear Parents,
World Book Day is this Thursday March 4th.
To celebrate, we are inviting the children in Junior Infants to 3rd, An Choill Bheag and An Choill Mhór to dress up as their favourite book character/title. It could be an outfit or a hairstyle! There is no pressure to do this at all. If you have things to use at home to dress up it would be super. There are lots of ideas on the world book day website: https://www.worldbookday.com/about-us/ireland/
There will be 2 prizes given in each class for the most creative World Book Day outfit/hairstyle! We also have some World Book Day vouchers which each child will get this week. These can be put towards books in many different book shops.
For 4th/5th class Zoom on Thursday at 11am and 5th/6th class Zoom on Friday at 11am the teachers will also be chatting about World Book Day - I know your teachers have given you your World Book Day tasks. There are some prizes up for grabs on your Zoom so make sure to be on those Zoom calls!
As there is no homework this week, we encourage pupils to pick up their favourite book and to be able to tell us all about it on Thursday. We know that over the past few weeks and months of lockdown some children will have read lots of books. With all of the online learning however, some pupils may not have read that much! Reading is one of the greatest gifts we can give to our kids!
Regards,
Audrey
