Dear Parents/Guardians,
Over the past year and a half, the staff decided that there were certain areas of PE and wellbeing that we felt our pupils would benefit from. To do some of these we needed outside expertise.
Last year and for this year, we decided to try out different activities with the aim of surveying the pupils in June to see which activities they enjoyed the best and would seek to continue. The main idea to expose the children to as many activities as possible.
The activities we had were Tag Rugby, Cricket, Swimming, Gymnastics, Dance with Joelle, Soccer and the final one we are trying out is Box Aerobics.
This is due to start on March 20th for 4 weeks for all classes.
What is Box Aerobics:
There is no sparring work involved but typically children will get to use boxing gloves and focus pads which are usually popular. This programme is delivered with music and a beat, so it is another fun way to cover the Dance Strand of the PE Curriculum!
Benefits are:
It caters for all individual needs and abilities in primary school settings.
It teaches the fundamentals of boxing while having fun and incorporates some elements of dance.
It gives children an understanding of technique and footwork.
It helps children to build balance, coordination and movement.
Cost
The school has covered most of the cost of most of the activities apart from Tag Rugby and Soccer which are free and swimming which is paid for by parents. We are using some of the Lotto money to cover the cost of some of the Box Aerobics and we are asking parents to pay €15 per child to cover the rest.
How to pay
An Aladdin link for €15 will be sent to all parents.
Thanks everyone,
Audrey
