Verona Murphy, TD, came to visit us today in our school.
First, she met one of our Senior Infant pupils who gave her a high 5!

She then visited 4th/5th class to commend them on their Blue Star programme in May. She was unable to visit that day but spoke about the EU and how important it is for all of us. She was surprised to learn that we have an Erasmus programme for our school and even more surprised when she heard that some of our pupils will travel abroad next year.

She spoke about many different issues such as jobs, transport, the future for the EU, equality of employment for men and women, disability and special education and she added her own personal touches to what she spoke about which was lovely for the pupils to hear.
She presented our class with the Blue Star Flag which came in the post this week! Well done to 4th/5th class:

On behalf of Ms. Robinson and Ms. Keogh she named the winning Blue Star Projects - Nathan and Georgia were out but Nathanael was there to receive 3rd place. Nathanael also spoke to Verona about our school Pedestrian Crossing and how dangerous it is and his concerns for our pupils' safety. Verona promised she would have the County Engineer out and that this issue would be resolved by return to school in Sept. Well done Nathanael. Holly also spoke to Verona about the absence of water safety equipment in Bannow Island beach and Verona said she would look into that too. Well done Holly. So important to see our pupils bringing up local issues.

Verona then popped out to have some cake at our Cake Sale and met lots of our pupils.

She then popped into 3rd class and heard their lovely song When I grow up.
It was great to have Verona visit our school and we invited her back in September to see our new ASD building.
Regards,
Audrey
