Communication

Some parents seem to not get the app updates and messages. If there is a problem, please remove the app and re-install it. Also, make sure to have it on the main screen of your phone. To email any teacher in the school you can send it to ballymittyns@gmail.com

Opening Year Mass

On Weds. October 11th, Fr. Boggan will hold an opening year mass for 3rd – 6th classes at 10am in Ballymitty Church. Parents/guardians/grandparents are all welcome to attend.

School Photos

The school photographer, Will Cusack, came in last week and did sibling photos. Envelopes went out to all parents this week. He will be back on Fri. Oct. 6th to collect monies for any photos parents wish to buy. Please mark the envelope carefully with your order and only orders with money enclosed can be processed.

GAA news

On Tues. next the Rackard League players will tog out for our school in the Mini 7s competition. The bus will leave at 10.20am Tues. morning and we will be back by 1.30pm.

Tues and Thurs Peil4All

Every Tuesday morning in school, there will be Football skills (Peil4All) for pupils in Junior Infants - 2nd class from 8.30am - 9.10am. This will be held on the basketball court if dry and if it rains it will be held in the GP room. This means that parents know it is a definite date in the diary! A few parents have offered to help out, if there are any other volunteers, please let us know as we will need to get Garda Vetting done.

Every Thursday morning in school there will be Football skills (Peil4All) for pupils in 3rd - 6th class from 8.30am - 9.10am. This will also be held in the GP room if the rain comes!

Finally, every Thursday afternoon, there is training for the Rackard League players from 3 – 4pm in Grantstown.

Next Rackard League - No information as yet about the next round of fixtures.

Parents and Friends Group AGM

The AGM was held in school last Tuesday evening. Thank you to the parents who turned out. We had a very small number of parents but Melanie Mageean agreed to stay on as Chairperson and Sarah Quinn is staying on as Treasurer. We do need a Secretary for the committee to effectively run. We often need a group of parents who can help at various school functions and events. It is also important that we have at least one parent from each class so that parents’ voices are represented at the meetings. If you are happy to join the committee please let us know by CLICKING HERE.

Erasmus

A meeting will be held in the school on Monday October 9th for all the parents of 4th/5th class. This is to inform you about the opportunities that the classes have to travel to visit schools abroad in the next school year 2024/2025. We had our first Erasmus teachers from Sweden this week and they were very impressed by what they saw here in Ballymitty NS and especially impressed by the members of our European Development Team who presented a PowerPoint presentation to them. They did us proud!

Honesty Box

This is going really well and has brought in over a couple of hundred euros since it started. Our thanks to everyone who contributes to it. If you are lucky enough to get some of the nice jams that are for sale, please remember to bring back the empty jars and pots!

Have a lovely weekend everyone,

Kind regards,

Audrey
