Weekly Update

Dear Parents, Pupils and Staff,

Happy Friday one and all! And more importantly Happy World Children's Day. A day to say well done to all our wonderful children who enrich our lives everyday and who show us the real meaning of resilience and courage! You all deserve a treat today!!

In line with this, our Minister for Education Norma Foley, has suggested that we have a No Homework Day between now and Christmas holidays. We don't usually do written homework in December (with a few exceptions!) so next Thursday November 26th is our No Homework Day! I am sure the pupils will remind us all as we go through next week!

Flu Vaccine: O'Donnell's Pharmacy will be in on Tuesday next (Nov. 24th) to give pupils the nasal vaccine. Parents are not permitted to attend due to Covid regulations. So if there are any nervous candidates perhaps let the teacher know by email but there will be plenty of staff on standby for some emotional support!

Seesaw permission:You will see an add-on to our phone App this week. If you go into Dashboard on your App you will see a new option called Forms. This will allow us to get your permission for different school events and activities from now on. From Monday November 23rd until Fri. Dec. 4th you can click on Forms and give permission for your child to use Seesaw. Home codes will then be given out next week. Seesaw will be used in the classroom from time to time as a teaching and learning tool and will also be used in the event of a class/school closure. We need permission from parents to set each child up. Please see information about Seesaw here: https://web.seesaw.me/parents

Covid 19: Due to a slight drop in the temperatures outside, our classrooms can be cold as they must be ventilated before the pupils enter and throughout the day. An extra layer of clothing is advised. Pupils are getting lots of ventilation breaks and all our school staff and pupils continue to follow our Covid guidelines. Well done to all!

Last week's Science competition - still open for entries! Check last week's update here for more information: http://ballymittyns.ie/News/Message-from-Principal/226145/Index.html

I hope you all have a lovely weekend,

Audrey
