Welcome to our 3rd and 4th Class Blog!

There are 29 pupils in our class. Ms. Foley is our teacher and Ms. Rose is the SNA in our class. We have been very busy in school so far this year. Here is a little look at what we have been getting up to!

Working From Home

As you all know, our school closed its doors on March 12th because of the spread of Covid-19 in Ireland. However, the pupils of 3rd and 4th Class have been working harder than ever at home! Have a little look at what they have been up to.

We have been learning about the life of JFK. Check out pictures of this super PowerPoint project created by one of our 3rd Class pupils!

Science Week

In November we participated in Science Week. We did a lot of fun experiments both in school and at home including making lava lamps and finding out that tomato ketchup is actually a very good household cleaner! We also had a special guest speaker to our class, Tom McLoughlin.

We have been creating some really exciting art pieces this year in 3rd and 4th class. We weaved Christmas decorations in December, we have been practising drawing and using different colouring materials such as chalks, paint, watercolour and oil pastels. We also created Valentines pots using clay. Take a look!

We have covered many different topics in SESE so far this year. We learned about the Celts and the Ancient Greeks. We also created projects. We did one project as a group in school about Australia and another about Alexander Graham Bell. We also did a project on our own about Amelia Earhart.

In March we went on our Educational Trip. We visited the Heritage Park in Ferrycarrig and we had an amazing day. We learned a lot and we had a lot of fun.

We are very lucky to have Lloyd come into our school each Friday to teach us fundamental movement skills through GAA. Before Christmas we were learning Football skills and from January onward we were focused on Hurling skills. Some people in our class also get some extra practise on Friday mornings before school at GAA Hurling 365/Peil 4 All training!

We were also really lucky to have Tina Ralph in our classes teaching us some yoga in January.

We have been learning some new tunes on the tin whistle this year. We are also learning how to read music notes. For Seachtain na Gaeilge we learned the Irish song “Beidh Aonach Amárach”.

World Book Day 2020

We, in 3rd and 4th class, take dressing up very very seriously! On World Book Day, we dressed up as our favourite book characters. Everybody put in huge effort and it was a very enjoyable day for all. Here is a glimpse of our costumes..
