Just a reminder that on Friday we have our Non Uniform Fundraiser Day to finish our Autism Awareness Week. All funds raised will go to AsIAm.
Rather than just wear blue, pupils can dress up in all colours and bring in a few euros to raise the money!
This week also, we had a poster competition for Autism Awareness. We will announce the winners on Friday. Some fantastic posters were done by all our pupils with some wonderful mottos and phrases. One in particular that caught my eye was See the Able, not the Label. We will pop up a video on Friday of all the posters so that you can see how aware we are of people with Autism.
Having spoken to some parents of pupils with autism we are hoping to get an advocacy group together where we can develop our own school policy around Autism and what that means for Ballymitty NS. This would include parents, staff and pupils.
This is also part of our overall philosophy of inclusion and diversity. In the coming weeks, our European Development Team made up of staff and pupils will be planning for our Diversity and Inclusion week.
